Good Intentions, Unintended Consequences

Doctors are such killjoys. Cholesterol too high? Take these statin drugs. They'll wreck your sleep with muscle cramps but your "numbers" will improve. Blood pressure too high? Stop using salt. You'll lose your appetite because your food is tasteles but you'll lose weight, and that's a good thing, right?

Under the guise of good health, we attempt to deny history. Alcohol, gluten, weed, sodium chloride, somebody somewhere doesn't want you to have it.

Latest example: NYTimes piece that says there probably isn't anything wrong with salt after all. This news comes only four years after the Times said exactly the same thing. (Cornichon wrote about it back then, too.)

What's a poor reporter to do, you ask? Keep on doubting? Keep on typing? Keep on chewing?
