Portobello, grilled

Portobello w butterbean salad at Black Bottle.JPG

The kitchen at Belltown's imaginative gastropub Black Bottle stays open late, thank goodness; where else could I get midnight food this tasty? Latest addition to the menu is a portobello mushroom, grilled up (by sous-chef Zach Stockman) with rosemary, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper, served atop a salad of butterbeans, red pepper strips and cucumber dressed with rice-wine vinegar and dill. Like eating a prime steak. Nine bucks.

Gone a month and all kinds of new places open, and not just in Belltown. Gotta get out & try 'em.

Hi Ron, good to see you are back in town. Scott and I were with a group who paid dearly to hear/see Van Morrison last night. He was great....but the venue so, so.
But, we have to tell you that from the 13th row, we both sat down and said, "Oh my gosh, he looks a lot like Ronald Holden. His voice and act was wonderful.....the show more than, a bit short...but he was at the top of his game and was doing a great impression of you! You have a Doppelgaenger!!

Also new on the Black Bottle menu from Chef Brian Durbin:

+ Pork Belly with Kimchi - Pan- seared then slow braised (8 hours), skewered with Kimchi

+ Lemon Squid Salad - simply blanched and tossed with frisée, lemon juice, lemon jest, whole pepper grind, shucked edamame beans, house made croutons, and capers.

+ Peach/Blueberry Tart - house made crust, slow bake; kind of like formless tart meets cobbler in an iron skillet served with heavy cream.

Black Bottle has a delicious and inexpensive menu, full bar, good wine, and the ambience is superb! Great Belltown destination.

Ron, this dish looks delish! What an elegant preparation. Dennys be damned!
I found a place that serves savory and very fresh food. It's been around awhile and is in West Seattle. LaRustica. I went to a party there and it is very intimate and cozy. I think you might like it.

Cool Ron, just went by the place the other day and didn't stop because we were on our way to another gig, but it looked interesting - thanks for putting the word out! I love Portebello's and especially grilled! Will have to stop by and check it out!

Let me know what you think about CoCo LaTida!!!
